Ride Inside
Ride Inside
Cyclists in Canada have always faced a unique problem: the weather.  While many of us love to ride our bikes, Mother Nature doesn’t always play along.  The Ride Inside program, developed and run by Cyclelogik, Powered by Caffeine, combines the benefits of cycling with regimented aerobic exercise, all done on specially designed bikes.

It’s an innovative way to train 12 months a year in order to realize your maximum potential, but it’s also a great place to meet other riders, socialize a little, and stay in touch with the rest of the cycling community.  The program is designed to be flexible and approachable, anyone with an interest in cycling can join and benefit from participation (and get a good workout along the way). Classes are typically an hour in length, and are scheduled throughout the week. Have a look at the short video on the right and get the low-down on Ride Inside from our friends at 'A' Morning.

Class Content
Endurance Progression - These are the core workouts for any aerobic activities. These classes focus on exercise intensities between 55 and 85 percent of your aerobic threshold (from an easy pedaling conversational pace to moderate deep breathing, yet controlled efforts). Pedaling positions will change regularly to keep things lively and challenge different areas.

Strength Progression - Still aerobically based, strength classes are designed to improve physical strength, climbing efficiency and ultimately raise your lactate threshold. Class intensities will increase to efforts above your lactate threshold with time at lower intensities to recover (higher efforts will require concentration to maintain rhythmical breathing and pedaling technique)

Speed Week - No question, these classes are tough. Speed classes are designed to improve your top end performance. Efforts are generally short but quite intense.

Race Day - These classes are designed to simulate real life outdoor cycling. Although structured, they are designed to move through periods of short intense efforts, longer moderate intensities, climbs of varying difficulties and easier tempo type efforts as would be found during any spirited group ride or race.

FAQ
What if I forget my cycling shoes?
We will gladly install a set of cages / flat pedals for you to use.
Can I start partway through the cycle?
Yes, of course. While the training cycle is designed to offer the maximum benefit based on participant input, it is not time specific. The reason behind the cycle is to avoid the dangers of a physiological plateau, which typically occurs when the same exercises are repeated ad nauseam.
What if I don’t have the right cleats?
Participants will have the option to purchase one (1) set of Look keo or SPD style cleats upon pass purchase for a discounted rate, which we will gladly install free of charge.

Wait List Policy
Cyclelogik does not over book Ride Inside classes. We do, however, make every attempt to ensure those that are wanting to participate in a Ride Inside class get the opportunity should it arrive. As such, we do create a wait list for each class.

We ask that registered participants show up in advance of the start of the class (5 minutes is preferred minimum). This enables the instructor to start the class on time and prevents any disruption to the class once it is underway. Any registered participants that do not show up for the start of the class will be considered 'No Show' and the spot will be filled by those on the wait list in the order that they appear.
